MIites Win the President's Cup
Our Bantam 1 team got off to a quick 3-0 lead in the 1st period of the NIHL Wolves Cup championship game against the Jets. Goals in the first period were scored at 10:17 by Bobby VanHoughton, at 8:25 again by Bobby VanHoughton with an assist from James Wagner, and at 6:31 from Dawson Gallay. With the first period shot totals registering Bulldogs 12 and Jets 2, the Bulldogs seemed to have the game in hand. During the 1st period intermission Coach Russ wisely cautioned the team to keep up the pace, continue crashing the net, shooting the puck and applying pressure for the remaining 26 minutes of the game. Two more goals were scored in the second period, the first from the Jets at 8:04 and the 4th Bulldogs goal by Johnny Seebeck with assists from Ethan Masunaga and Will Panoutsos at 5:05. By the end of the second period Bulldogs had 23 shots to the Jets 9. The defensive pressure continued in the 3rd period allowing only three more shots by the Jets, finishing the game with 31 total shots for the Bulldogs and 13 from the Jets. Both teams had a fair amount of penalty trouble; Jets had 14 penalty minutes and Bulldogs weathered 12 penalty minutes to finish your BANTAM GOLD NIHL WOLVES CUP CHAMPIONS! Thank you to our coaches Russ Naumenko, Mike Herbert, Charley Fetzer, and Ryan Murtaugh for their countless hours of on ice training and to Luke Mussleman and his team at Heartland Performance Training for the countless hours of off ice training. "Humble enough to prepare. Confident enough to perform!" Nice work gentleman!

The PeeWees were fired up for their Championship game vs. the Wilmette Braves from the first puck drop. Controlling much of the play in the first period, they outshot the Braves 10-5 with Jake Gonzalez scoring the first goal of the game at 9:41. The Braves turned up the heat in the second period though, scoring to tie the game on a power play at 9:32. The Wilmette push continued, but goalie Jojo Chobak was ready, making 15 saves. The Bulldogs only had 5 shots on goal in the second period, but they made them count -- Jack Nelson and Matt O'Connor both hit the back of the net, with assists from Alexander Sekulic and Will Heffernan. The Bulldogs defense kept the score at 3-1 through most of the third period, with Jake Gonzalez assisted by Alexander Sekulic scoring the final goal with less than a minute left in the game. An amazing end to an undefeated playoff run for the PeeWees! Thank you to our Bulldog parents and families for your support over the course of the season, and thank you to our coaches Russ Naumenko, Mike Herbert, Charley Fetzer, Ryan Murtaugh, Rob Hutson and Luke Mussleman for your dedication to our team! Go Bulldogs!
